Free to register and, they say, different to other dating services on the web, as they have no initial joining fee and don't make you pay to use the site once you've signed up. This site is UK based and seems exclusively British.

Once you become a member of Pocado you are able to take advantage of the Detailed Search facility. This allows you to specify search criteria to suit you. So for example if you would like to search for potential partners with Black hair who live within 40 miles of your address you can do so on Pocado. Searches are automatically saved for you to use over and over again.

There is the added facility to save a members profile in a list so you can return and spend more time reading through what they have to say about themselves. Far better than trying to remember who you have looked at. This list is controlled by you and members can be added and removed only by you. As an added feature, it also displays who has added you to their favourite list.

They say they take the dating game very seriously and realise that sometimes you may receive more attention than you possibly want. To make sure your experience whilst using Pocado is the best possible they have included two distinct methods of controlling who sees you.

* You can block any individual member from seeing your profile. They will not see your details or photo's anymore or will not be notified of this block.
* At any time you can switch your profile from being 'Visible to Everyone' to being 'Invisible to everyone'. Quite handy if you just want to pause the search for a suitable partner. Again this is controlled by you. A versatile messaging system notifies you by email of a new incoming message from a member. You have all the features of conventional email and you can read and send messages to other members from anywhere where you can login to your Pocado account.
