This is a dating site with a difference. In their own words:
'I created this dating site because I was sick of seeing faceless corporations
prey on people looking for love. In my mind finding love is not about handing
over a monthly fee to some dating site that only cares about making sure
you stay another month to pay them again.
We are Different
Plentyoffish.com is a 100% FREE online dating site and constantly changing
based on your feedback, and you will notice everything on this online dating
site is done so that you can meet people you have personally selected, and
you can do it quickly. For example, we are the only major dating site that
allows users to block messages from whole groups of other users they aren't
interested in. No other dating site would do this as more individual contacts
means more money.'
So there you have it. There are a lot of members, although I did spot a few repeats but this could just be accidental due to the sheer numbers as this is a big dating site if members are anything to go by. There seems to be a healthy community feel with lots of forum threads where people ask and give advice and discuss relationships, swap stories and news and generally hang out, so it's what the best dating sites are, a mix of dating and social networking. Or perhaps that's social networking with a dating slant. There's certainly a lot going on, and it's mainly a younger crowd, so oldies should look elsewhere.
There are a majority of members from North America, but plenty from elsewhere as well, and they say they're one of the biggest dating sites on the net, which could well be true. A busy friendly site with a lot going for it, totally free and likely to remain so as they seem to have the advertising angle sewn up, and unlike a lot of dating sites, are not run with a large team of staff. Unbelievably, a couple run it, and they ask for patience in waiting for email answers! Like all small businesses, you will get a different kind of experience, a more personal one.
