Ivory Towers is an online dating, matchmaking and friendship service designed for single graduates of UK and Irish Universities. It also welcomes graduates of overseas Universities provided they are resident in the UK or Ireland. It's specifically designed for intelligent friendship, dating and matchmaking for graduates of all eras. It allows you to create a profile about yourself that you can match with like minded graduate singles in your area. You then choose who you want to write to via the site. It's a paying site with fees for 1 Month (£12.95), 3 Months (£24.50), 6 Months (£44.95), 9 Months (£54.95), and 12 Months £64.95. You can sign up for a free 10-day trial before registering and paying. Members can create personal ads in the form of detailed profiles, including photographs and voice introductions.

This is a new site designed by Widernet Communications who create specialist websites for likeminded communities. It is specifically aimed at the UK and has a rather different look and feel to all other dating sites, being rather staid and studious looking, without the usual shiny pictures of attractive, young, smiling people that usually adorn other dating sites. It is also very strict about the clients being graduates, and there is a list from which to choose your university, and, in the event your University is not on the list, there are separate boxes to add your details. Members may be asked to produce validation of their graduate status. It would have been better to have had a free tour before committing, but you only get to search, and the results are listed without any personal information or even a picture.

This is a different approach to dating which sets out to maximise compatibility first, and although graduates can find love and romance with non-graduates, it's a good rough guide for many who want to avoid the chance that a date will be less well educated. Starting with a level playing field is one way of ensuring an educational baseline. After that, it's up to you whether you use the service to find your soul mate, who may even have attended the same University, or even find Doctor Right!
